Pictured is Billy Holmes owner of Gulf Coast Marine ,me Doug Stanford ,and Michel Watt cameraman for TexasFishingTips.com .This is the before picture . The boat will feature an enclosed head {potty } for the ladies , crows nest T Top .This will allow me or you to stand on the helm to spot fish . The canvas will be zippered so I can poke my head through the top . Cannan Marine Lights be installed to see what is below at night or just to look really cool. There will be a camera mounted so on all those fishing trips where anything happens it will be caught. Like when the whale shark bumped my boat or when you catch a monster fish . type='text'>Paul and Paul's reds

I had the pleasure of fishing with Paul Burnett and his son Paul Burnett for the last two days. The first day we started out at the jetty and caught 1 slot and 1 over sized red . Then went on to St Joe island where we got several small reds on cut bait. Ran to Paul's Mott only to find several boats fishing my favorite spots. Caught small trout in Big Bayou , and Corpus Christie Bayou on shrimp . Finally landed a 30 inch red at Lydia Ann Channel.
Next day we started at the ferry and limited out quickly ,using cut bait. Moved to the jetties and caught several big spanish makerel . Tried to catch tarpon as they were rolling on top a lot. No luck even throwing live bait at them . Found several Kingfish splashing around so I started throwing topwaters at them . Hooked 4 but they would always bite through the line .They would become airborne when they bit the lure ,coming 10' to 15' out of the water !

The best was when I was fishing 1/2 mile from the jetty in 40' water . Something big bumped the motor .I walked back to the stern when it bumped agian ,and agian. Then suddenly a 20' WHALE SHARK stuck it's tail out of the water next to me. That tail was 4' and not all of it was out of the water. We caught several flounder from 6 lbs to 4 lbs. Lots of Spanish mackerel and trout . But the best was when the 11 year old girl caught a 36" red fish . Then if that was not enough she did it again with a 39" red fish . She hooked both fish by herself and played them herself . She did require some help to keep from being pulled in by these monsters.

Coustomer appreciatetion DISCOUNT

We really appreciate your business ,and want to extend a big ole THANK YOU . We were targeting flounder today on his fishing lures . Started out from The LIGHTHOUSE INN in ROCKPORT / FULTON .
The day started out on a full stomach from the FANTASTIC breakfast bar at the Lighthouse Inn. Weather was gorgeous with blue skies very little wind and a strong outgoing tide .
Ran to Alleyn's bite straight across to the east from the Lighthouse inn . Where I had been getting some really nice reds lately . Several boats were already in my favorite spots so we got a few bites but no keepers. Traveled on to the Lydia Ann Channel and Immediately found the fish. On the first cast we were getting bit immediately . After losing no telling how many good fish and catching a few .I tried fishing with " NUTTIN BUTT A BUGG " No trailer as it turned out the fish seemed to like the worm trailer way too much and not getting the hook in their mouths. After fishing the jig with no trailer and putting a little BUGG Juice on It was constant action . These fish needed to be small and colorful. We were looking for Spanish Hog fish to replace the one that died in a plumbing problem.Unfortunately the waters have cooled off somewhat since Summer. We did catch some Lane snapper that was small enough but we also got lots of them really big for the table. We also got some large Spanish mackerel. On one rig we found the dog snapper were were looking for ,we also found lots of Barracuda.Caught one small one and got cut off lots of time. We even had one run into the side of the boat as I was trying to help land a large blue runner. The waves picked up so we had to head in to the bay .
There at the Fina docks We tried to catch Sargent major but got lots of perch ,sand trout and croaker.
Thanks for the ROCKPORT AQUARIUM for providing a FREE ADMITTANCE for any one wanting to learn about fish in our bays and gulf.

Thursduy evening

Went out Thursday evening with Dave trying to figure out what was wrong with his boat.We fished several places with artificial only and caught some small reds with Berkley gulp and lots of perch.finally picked up one 22" red in Shamrock.

6 ft. type='text'>40lb Smoker King

Went out yesterday between the rain showers. Caught some lane snapper a shark and a Smoker King fish.We call them smokers because that is what they do to your reel.We had a large grouper pull the line into the rig and break off. That is the second time this week that happened there.Last time I hooked it same spot on a 2 lb live blue runner.I was using a 5/0 Penn gold reel loaded with 100 lb mono. The drag was locked down and that fish still beat me by getting into the rig. If that is the same fish he has also eaten a 15 lb snapper whole on a previous trip.
I know where he lives and We will pull him up yet!

4 FOOT DORADO

Went out Saturday offshore on Doctor's Orders .We landed several sharks ,snapper ,amber jack ,and a 48" Dorado on 20 lb line. That dorado lept in the air many times .We all had a great time.

We have been catching trout in Baffin Bay and some reds .Had a trip there last Friday and lost a lot of fish but we did land 12 keeper trout and 1 nice red. type='text'>Booking a Trip

If you want to book a trip we require a credit card ,or a 100.00 deposit before we confirm a date.It is not held for you until this has happened .There is a 100.00 charge if you cancel or no show me.I put in a lot of hours before and after each and every trip.
I will get up at least two hours before the trip and buy bait,at least 50.00 each trip.Sometimes 75.00to 100.00 in live bait .This bait cannot be returned if you do not show.It will simply die. After the trip I clean fish ,Clean boat ,rods, anchors, and not to mention about fixing things on the boat.A boat has lots of problems especially around saltwater.I have insurance on my boat ,liability ,and on my truck that I use .This does not pay for fishing lures ,hooks ,line, anchors, ropes, ,weights,or fishing rods and reels dropped overboard.
This does not cover advertising lost wages or because somebody cheated me.I do not ask for a tip but it is very appreciated .Tips usually are 50.00 to 100.00 for a good day.
It is a nice way to scratch out a living and no I am not getting rich. There are weeks in the winter where I go with out trip but the boat payments still come in,as do the bills and food too.I go out when it is the only day you have to go fishing no matter what the moon phase or weather and expect to catch fish.I can hook fish up and hand the rod off only to lose the fish .I still get blamed for no fish.I can work the lures and catch them ,but try to teach somebody else how to do it.I will explain what the fish are doing to help you understand how to catch them and for your later trips without me.
If you can not afford my prices ,I understand i have been there too.You can book with a head boat in Port A for a cheaper trip .
I GUARANTEE A GOOD TIME AND TO CATCH FISH NOT A LIMIT OF FISH.I do better than most guides and when we limit out I do not run back to the dock,I keep fishing for other species.I usually stay later and give you extra time.
<img width='1' height='1' ,But we STILL caught fish.went to BAFFIN BAY two days ago caught several nice trout on Berkley gulp and only one on live shrimp. They were really picky and would not eat live perch, mullet or shrimp.
Thursday went out at noon and got 5 nice flounder ,2 mangrove snapper ,and two limits of Sheep's head. They all wanted live shrimp.
Talked to other guides and they were not catching anything but rat reds.
Woody's in port A shrimp is 16.00 a quart and crazy Cajun at Conn brown harbor is 12.00 a quart.I will use a quart per person on a trip and still need I can carry up to 6 customers on my boat.If you split that between 6 then the cost of a head boat trip is the same ,especially if they have a FUEL FEE.
I have also been catching some really nice trout in Baffin Bay on Berkley Gulps .The biggest trout I have seen in a while was a 32" 10 lb.trout.If you are after Reds they are here and catching lots of them and Black drum in sailboat channel.
Be careful if you are running a boat in the NO-PROP SCARRING ZONES .The game wardens are setting and watching really close and will give you a ticket.<div because they are a federally lic boat.I can LEGALLY DO WHAT THEY CAN NOT.
If you want a nice mess of snapper I will take you if the weather permits.WE had a snapper weigh 20 pounds + last Trout are gathered up on structure in 8-12' ,mainly channels.Drift the channel with the wind and you will find the fish .When you do find them stay there the action will be fast .They are hitting live shrimp and Berkley Gulp,in root beer ,nuclear chicken, new penny and just about any color.
Flounder have really been coming in the surf ,on mullet.I have personally seen several in the 6 lb range.
The jetties are producing lots of Sheepshead right now, especially the north jetty.Anchor just off the point in line with the jetty. Live shrimp will catch them ,along with reds, and Spanish mackerel.Pl EASE use caution when fishing the jetties. DO NOT ANCHOR FROM THE STERN. This will sink a boat no matter how nice the weather. Also when fishing the jetties be courteous we are all there to catch fish and have a good time.

Sunday Nov 9

Had a great group from Ft.Worth celebrating Loretta 's birthday.Loretta was the woman of the day ,she boated several reds and the largest of the day 33".The wind was getting a little rough so we stayed at the jetty an fished .Good choice since later we had to quit the jetty as the wind got to 35 mph.We cught 8 reds ,2 spanish mackerel 1 grouper,1 triggerfish and a nice King fish.
Had several monster fish try and pull the women overboard but I kept a tight grip on them.Except one lady who scremed profanities as the fish pulled her from one end of the boat to the other.
Had a BLAST with this bunch of NUTS and looking forward to the next trip with them.
When we came into the boat ramp a fishery survey was going on. Mangrove Snapper is what I targeted for them to let Colten catch a lot of fish. I caught two 60-70 lb. yellow fin tuna myself.

Boat For Sale

Any body interested in buying my 20' flatbottom ,cc, Guide boat? it would make a great Flounder boat or Duck boat .It has enough room in it you can dance in it. 140 hp Suzuki 4-stroke ,hydrolic jack plate, new hydrolic steering. This rig will scoot over damp oysters .Easy on fuel too. Fished for a little while lost several nice fish and watched a group of boats try to save a sinking boat. on the other jetty. The Coast guard was there and Towboat U.S.getting the boat saved .
I talked to my son Brad who was captain on the Flipper bay boat, they had 15 reds ,several spanish mackeral ,and big Mangrove snapper. They were heading in and went out of my site back into the channel.I heard on the radio something about the Flipper to the Coast Guard and I thought he was helping relay information about the other boat in distress.
When I realized he needed help, I pulled up anchor and got over there as soon as I could get there. When I finally arrived, the boat was on it's side and sinking, the coast guard was watching it sink .Everybody on board was on the C.G. boat and not even wet.Brad did a great job of trying to save the boat and a great job of getting the coast guard there quickly We tried to tie onto the boat and had it coming into the current ,the boat rose about half way out of the water as I was towing it. Then some stupid people in a large boat ran past us causing a big wake which broke the tow rope .
I scrambled to retie it agian ,but the boat was lower in the water this time and sinking fast .Got it retied and tried to pull it agian but the current was just too much.I was running with the current trying toget it pull forward ,and the rope broke again .Swung around and doubled the rope lost sight of it as I was tying knots .Only to not find it again.

Friday I had a great charter with some really great pepole from Ft Worth .We found some big bull reds at the jetty .Relesed several oversized fish after keeping a pair of 43",38",and ,37" .Had a great time .

October 15, 2008 Two Trips/One Day

My first trip today was for Dolphin Docks in Corpus Christi Ship Channel. The water was too rough to fish the jetties for the big bull reds so we fished several places and finally wound up at the Fina Docks. We caught 10 Mangrove Snapper, a big Spanish Mackerel, Spade Fish, and a 31 inch Red Drum.

The second trip was a private charter on my boat in the afternoon at Goose Island State Park. We found fish at Carlos Bay freelining shrimp on a reef. We caught lots of small trout and reds, several nice Sheepshead, one Black Drum, two keeper Reds, a 23 in. Trout, and a 40 lb. Stingray. The weather today was windy, rain all around, water temperature 75 degrees. Air temperature 85 degrees.

A cold front comes Wed. night lowering the temp about 10 degrees. The fishing will slow down after this front a few days, but then will stabilize and then will turn into our great fall fishing here. Trips are booking about a week in advance. If you want to get in on this great fishing time here around Port Aransas and Rockport, give me a call and we will set up up for a great time and a lot of fish. A credit card deposit of $100 will hold your trip.
